Our Advocacy Approach
Committed to Change
Awareness
Educating Communities
This case raises awareness to educate communities about domestic abuse and its impacts, ensuring that every person is informed and empowered to take action in their lives and neighborhoods.
Legislation
Advocating for Laws
Through strategic advocacy, this case is precent setting and it is important to ensure that accurate
application of our laws for domestic abuse victims is preserved as well as expand on additional relevant laws to pass that provide continuing protections and support for survivors of domestic abuse, making a significant impact on legal reform. This case is the only published case law on the protective statutes in Wisconsin law under Chapter 767 affecting the family.
Fundraising
Supporting Survivors
Fundraising efforts are vital, as they help cover legal fees and support services necessary for survivors to navigate their challenges effectively and reclaim their lives. While Wis Stat 767.41(5)(bm) says that the victim (Julie Valadez) and the children are required to have their safety paramount, Julie and the children are still waiting for the law to be applied and your support will ensure that the precent this case sets ensures protection the law requires. No children should be unlawfully separated from their fit and caretaking mother as their primary attachment figure.
